On January 1st, I wrote on Instagram: Welcome 2025, I am very curious about what you will bring. I hoped for a great year, filled with mostly good surprises. A few hours later, the sky responded with the most colorful aurora borealis I have ever seen— greens and purples dancing in the north, south and above for hours.
I don’t believe in signs from above; I believe that hard work pays off. But I still chose to take this colorful start as a sign. This will be a fantastic year—because I will make it one.
That means focusing on what I can actually influence. I’d love to have colleagues I meet on a more frequent basis again, and perhaps that will happen sometime this year. But first, I have something else to accomplish. Last year, I didn’t publish a single book. This year, there will be two.
The first one is already on its way: an updated edition of my travel guide to Nice and the French Riviera, celebrating its ten-year anniversary with a new version. Earlier this month, I submitted updates, new texts, and fresh images, and I expect to see the results later today.
I’m also waiting for the latest pages of my illustrated book on the history of the French Riviera. Both books are in Swedish, but this historical book would work well in other languages too. I don’t have the time to pursue translations on my own right now, but if anyone has a contact, feel free to reach out.
This month’s photo theme is World Heritage Sites. Among my selected pictures, you’ll find one from Le Corbusier’s famous house in Marseille (which I visited this week) and another of me walking along the coastal path named after him. The path passes Le Cabanon, his tiny retreat, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage—though not visible in image or from the path. Several of Vauban’s works are also UNESCO sites, though none are on the Riviera or in my book.
Now, I’m curious to see what February will bring.

The montly recap above has previously been published on LinkedIn.
